God Reveals  (involves teaching) 

To Study and Ponder

  • “Reveal” - make (previously unknown or secret information) known to others, to cause or allow (something) to be seen (ONLINE DICTIONARY)

- Greek apokaluptoto uncover, lay open what has been veiled or covered up - to make known, make manifest, disclose what before was unknown. (ONLINE BIBLE)

  • God WANTS to reveal Himself to us and our children! His intent from the beginning has been that we live in love relationship with him, experiencing His presence, aware that one day we will be with him in eternity .. seeing his face. (Revelation 22:4)

  • God’s purpose is not to hide truth but to reveal it, to clarify and to assist us in the discovery of truth so that we might understand it and apply it to our lives.

  • And we have received God’s Spirit (not the world’s spirit), so we can know the wonderful things God has freely given us. 1Corinthians 2:12

  • It is God’s privilege to conceal things and the king’s privilege to discover them. Prov 25:2

  • Light and revelation are linked - it is in the light that things are revealed

  • You light a lamp for me. The Lord, my God, lights up my darkness. Ps 18:28 (2Sa 22:29)

  • He reveals deep and mysterious things and knows what lies hidden in darkness, though he is surrounded by light. Daniel 2:22

  • I [Jesus] have come as a light to shine in this dark world, so that all who put their trust in me will no longer remain in the dark. John 12:46 (see also John 1:9; 9:5)

  • Jesus revealed himself to Saul in a dazzling light – Acts 9:1-6

  • For God, who said, “Let there be light in the darkness,” has made this light shine in our hearts so we could know the glory of God that is seen in the face of Jesus Christ. 2Co 4:6

  • And they will see his face, and his name will be written on their foreheads. And there will be no night there—no need for lamps or sun—for the Lord God will shine on them. And they will reign forever and ever. Re 22:4-5

  • There is a time and a place for revelation and the brilliant thing about God is he knows all the times and places and needs of our lives and he withholds some revelation, perhaps most, until those very specific times of "need to know."

  • God reveals himself in his written word.

  • “...we and our children are accountable forever for all that he has revealed to us, so that we may obey all the terms of these instructions. Deuteronomy 29:29b

  • The commandments of the Lord are right, bringing joy to the heart.The commands of the Lord are clear, giving insight for living. Ps 19:8

  • The teaching of your word gives light, so even the simple can understand. Ps 119:130

  • God always wanted the nations to know him. He used Israel, and later Jewish believers, to reveal Himself

  • ‘I have made you [Jewish believers] a light to the Gentiles, to bring salvation to the farthest corners of the earth.’ Acts 13:47b

  • ...This message about Jesus Christ has revealed his plan for you Gentiles, a plan kept secret from the beginning of time. But now as the prophets foretold and as the eternal God has commanded, this message is made known to all Gentiles everywhere, so that they too might believe and obey him. Romans 16:25-26

  • Old Testament leaders and prophets received revelation from and of God:-

  • ...no prophecy in Scripture ever came from the prophet’s own understanding, or from human initiative. ... prophets were moved by the Holy Spirit, and they spoke from God. 2 Pe.1:20b-21

  • If there were prophets among you, I, the Lord, would reveal myself in visions. I would speak to them in dreams. But not with my servant Moses. Of all my house, he is the one I trust. I speak to him face to face, clearly, and not in riddles! He sees the Lord as he is. Numbers 12:6-8a

  • The king said to Daniel, “Truly, your God is the greatest of gods, the Lord over kings, a revealer of mysteries, for you have been able to reveal this secret.” Daniel 2:47

  • For the Lord is the one who shaped the mountains, stirs up the winds, and reveals his thoughts to mankind. He turns the light of dawn into darkness and treads on the heights of the earth. The Lord God of Heaven’s Armies is his name! Amos 4:13

  • When he was on earth Jesus revealed what the Father is like

  • He[Jesus] is a light to reveal God to the nations .. Luke 2:32a

  • I have told you everything the Father told me. John 15:15b

  • Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father! John 14:9b

  • I have revealed you to the ones you gave me from this world. John 17:6

  • ..that was his plan from before the beginning of time—to show us his grace through Christ Jesus. 2Timothy 1:9b

  • The Holy Spirit was sent to reveal the Father and the Son:-

  • But I will send you the Advocate—the Spirit of truth. He will come to you from the Father and will testify all about me. John 15:26 (also John 16:13-14)

  • And because we are his children, God has sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, prompting us to call out, “Abba, Father.” Galatians 4:6

  • John was given an astounding revelation of Jesus in a vision. Rev.1:9-20

  • Holy Spirit brings revelation that is the foundation for believing and speaks words that stir faith in us.

  • So faith comes from hearing, that is, hearing the Good News about Christ. Romans 10:17

  • .... no one can say Jesus is Lord, except by the Holy Spirit. 1Corinthians 12:3b

  • I pray ..., asking God, the glorious Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, to give you spiritual wisdom and insight so that you might grow in your knowledge of God. Ephesians 1:17

  • Simon spoke and then acted on revelation he was given: - Luke 2:25b-28

  • God wants to reveal what is in our hearts (for our good):-

  • And when he (Holy Spirit) comes, he will convict the world of its sin, and of God’s righteousness, and of the coming judgment John 16:8

  • Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. Ps.139:23

  • And it is not because I am wiser than anyone else that I know the secret of your dream, but because God wants you to understand what was in your heart. Daniel 2:30 (NB v.1-30)

  • You spread out our sins before you—our secret sins—and you see them all. Ps 90:8

  • For he will bring our darkest secrets to light and will reveal our private motives. Then God will give to each one whatever praise is due. 1Corinthians 4:5


Meditation/Memory:

Lower Grades: The heavens proclaim the glory of God. The skies display his craftsmanship. Day after day they continue to speak; night after night they make him known. Psalm 19:1-2 (NLT)

And we have received God’s Spirit (not the world’s spirit), so we can know the wonderful things God has freely given us.  1 Corinthians 2:12(NLT)

Middle Grades: I pray for you constantly, asking God, the glorious Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, to give you spiritual wisdom and insight so that you might grow in your knowledge of God.  I pray that your hearts will be flooded with light so that you can understand the confident hope he has given to those he called…                                             Ephesians 1:16b -18a (NLT)

In the last days,’ God says, ‘I will pour out my Spirit upon all people.Your sons and daughters will prophesy. Your young men will see visions, and your old men will dream dreams. Acts 2:17(NLT)

Upper Grades: No eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no mind has imagined what God has prepared for those who love him.” But it was to us that God revealed these things by his Spirit. For his Spirit searches out everything and shows us God’s deep secrets. 1 Corinthians 2:9-10 (NLT)

No one can know a person’s thoughts except that person’s own spirit, and no one can know God’s thoughts except God’s own Spirit. And we have received God’s Spirit (not the world’s spirit), so we can know the wonderful things God has freely given us. 1 Corinthians 2:11-12(NLT)
